Stories of R.A.O.C.

It is a proven fact that your emotions affect your physical health,
when you smile or laugh it lets out ‘happy hormones’ that can
affect your body in a helpful way. When we go out in costume
to see kids in the hospital it actually can help them get better
faster. If you sit around all day miserable when you have a
cold you are less likely to get better as fast as someone who
at least tries to get some good out of it. We went to the hospital
once and there was this girl who had been hit by a train,
she hadn’t had a very good couple of days and was going to
be in the hospital for a while. When we saw her we made her
day and she actually started to feel better than before. We
visited her a couple more times, even on thanksgiving because
it’s really hard for people, of any age, to be in the hospital
during holidays. Every time we saw her she looked better.
Eventually she got out of the hospital and we made her an
honorary RAOC avenger shirt that said ‘Titanium Girl’ on it,
the nickname we had given her because after she got hit they
put titanium plates inside of her. When we presented it to her
she told us how much we had helped her when she was sick and
how she really liked what we were doing! Us going to the
hospital made her get better faster than if we hadn’t gone and
you can do the same thing for other people. Now I’m not saying
you have to come out in costume with us, although that would be
appreciated, but just smiling at someone who you normally
wouldn’t could make them feel a whole lot better. We Made
‘Titanium Girl’ happy by visiting her and we made her feel better
too, we set an example and hope you will follow it!
#PhotoBomb!

So this one time we were going down-town and Captain America
sees this group girls taking a selfie. He points out the fact that
they have a selfie stick and waves in their direction to show me
where they are, since in my mask I can’t see very well.
Anyway I start running towards them as fast as I can and land
behind them in my classic Spiderman pose. The girl holding the
selfie stick screams a blood-curdling scream that sounds
through the city park. Finally after they all calm down she
asks if I want to take a selfie with them and of course I couldn’t
say no. I get back into my pose and they’re about to take the
selfie when Captain America comes up behind them and puts
his hand on the selfie-stick girl's shoulder. He had been walking
up to us since I jumped behind them, but they didn’t see him
till then. The girl turns around and just stares at him mouth open,
probably letting in flies. After she gets herself together she asks
if he wants to join us too. Once the selfe is taking Cap. and I walk
away leaving the girls a giggling mess. So that was out
#photobomb story, hope you liked it!
Whoop, Whoop, That’s The Sound Of The Police
This one time Cap. Black Widow and I were in our car on the
way to the hospital when we pulled up next to a police officer.
Cap. was driving and I was in the passenger seat leaving
Black widow in the back. So when we pulled up next to him I
was the first person he saw. Being a police officer he was
very aware of his surroundings and noticed me right away,
unlike some drivers. He kept looking at me to his computer
back and forth contemplating whether to get back to work
or ask us what the heck we were doing. I waved at him and
then he came to a decision, he leaned slightly out of his window
and asked us exactly that. We smiled, of course he couldn’t see
mine but I did anyway. Then we told him that we were going to
the hospital to see the children and he looked almost relieved.
I told him, “Don’t worry, I’m not as bad as J.J. says, I don’t try to
be a menace!” He laughed getting the J.J. Jameson reference.
The light turned green and we went our separate ways, at least
we gave the guy something funny to tell his fellow officers about.
Also I had wanted to use that line for a long time!
